The Ultimate Guide to Our Women’s Boxing Classes
Welcome to PSB Fitness, your new local 24/7 women’s gym with boxing classes in Mississauga! We are a women’s-only boxing gym conveniently and accessibly located in the heart of downtown Mississauga within Sheridan College’s Hazel McCallion Campus, a few short minutes away from Square One Shopping Centre, the Hazel McCallion Central Library, and many surrounding office and apartment buildings. As an all-women’s boxing gym, we offer a variety of classes specializing in boxing-related activities including Boxing, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, Self-Defence Training, and Pilates.
With all of these class options available, we understand that it may be difficult to decide which boxing workout is right for you! This ultimate guide will explain each boxing-related class and its benefits, which we hope will help you decide which classes appeal best to your body, mind, interests, and lifestyle! 1) Boxing Classes – Fitness Boxing and Traditional Boxing

Fitness boxing focuses on developing essential boxing skills by striking a punching bag instead of facing off against an opponent partner (ISPO, 2022). It also involves agility, squatting, weaving, dodging, and responding (Total Fitness, 2023). Some of the benefits of fitness boxing include improving body and muscle strength, heart health, coordination, focus, and spatial awareness; burning calories and fat; and decreasing stress levels (Total Fitness, 2023). In our fitness boxing classes at PSB Fitness, our instructors will lead you through warm-ups, strengthening exercises, technique development, proper stance, and throwing punches at the punching bag (Total Fitness, 2023).
On the other hand, traditional boxing involves fighting against an actual partner (Total Fitness, 2023). Traditional boxing prioritizes offensive techniques such as how to throw punches at an actual opponent, as well as defensive techniques to protect yourself and avoid attacks (Alejandra, 2024). It also involves footwork, head maneuvers, balance, and positioning (Alejandra, 2024). Additionally, at PSB Fitness, we also run traditional boxing classes where you will have the chance to learn and participate in friendly competitive boxing matches. This allows you to apply various offensive and defensive boxing techniques as you face off against other women in the boxing ring included in our gym facility. Furthermore, we also teach the essential punches of boxing including the jab, cross, hook, and uppercut (Alejandra, 2024).
2) Kickboxing Classes

Kickboxing combines traditional boxing with kicking skills and involves throwing punches, kicking, knee striking, and strengthening the lower body (Alejandra, 2024). The benefits of kickboxing include strengthened muscles, balance, heart health, and confidence; loss of weight; and improved sleep quality and mental well-being (Santos-Longhurst, 2019). At PSB Fitness, our experienced trainers will assist you in learning various kickboxing techniques such as punches; sparring skills; and front, side, and back kicks (Alejandra, 2024).
3) Muay Thai Classes

Muay Thai requires the involvement of your full body to strike opponents including using your fists, elbows, knees, and shins, and utilizes a technique called clinching to control and attack your opponent through close contact (Alejandra, 2024). Muay Thai is known to help strengthen your lower body, core, hips, reflexes, balance, focus, and cardiovascular health, as well as relieve stress and anxiety (Sinbi Muay Thai, 2024). At PSB Fitness, our Muay Thai classes taught by trained professionals facilitate a full-body workout while teaching the techniques of this unique form of martial arts.
4) Self-Defence Training Classes

Self-Defence training classes are about acquiring the techniques required to protect yourself from an unanticipated attack through learning physical strength and skills, alertness, confidence, effective verbal responses, and safety techniques (NY Martial Arts Academy, 2014). The benefits of taking self-defence classes include improved surrounding and personal awareness, confidence, mental and physical health, and knowledge on how to protect yourself (Guardian Travel, 2020). At PSB Fitness, our classes teach the essential self-defence skills and safety techniques necessary to protect and defend yourself by participating in practice exercises that will build your self-defence skills through repetition and step-by-step learning.
5) Pilates Classes

Pilates is a set of exercises that involves movements and muscle engagement to emphasize the development of core strength (Mayer & Key, 2024). At PSB Fitness, classes are led by an experienced instructor who will guide you through a specific sequence of movements that involve precision, control, and technique, and may require additional equipment for certain exercises (Mayer & Key, 2024). Furthermore, Pilates exercises have many benefits for the body and mind including improvements to flexibility, core and muscle strength, posture, balance, coordination, and mental health; relief from stress; and the alleviation of pain (Mayer & Key, 2024).
Class Times & Availability
Classes will take place on a variety of days and times throughout the week. We offer early-morning, afternoon, evening, and late-night classes, so you’ll be sure to find a class time that works with your busy schedule! Additionally, since our gym is open 24/7, the facilities and boxing equipment will always be available to you to do your own workout routine at anytime that fits your schedule!
